JonBenet suspect set to fly to US
John Mark Karr says he was with JonBenet when she died |
An American school teacher held in Bangkok on suspicion of killing child beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey has been taken to the airport for deportation. John Mark Karr, 41, is set to fly directly to Los Angeles, escorted by US security officials, Thai police said.
The six-year-old girl was beaten and strangled in her Colorado home 10 years ago, in a case that gripped America.
Mr Karr has said he was with JonBenet when she died, but insists her death was an accident.
It has emerged that police in America are examining a 1982 yearbook signed by Mr Karr for clues that may link him to the crime.
The yearbook entry ends with Mr Karr saying in block capitals, "Though, deep in the future, maybe I shall be the conquerer [sic] and live in multiple peace", the CNN news website reports.
A ransom note found in the Ramsey home had ended with the word "Victory!" and was signed "S.B.T.C." Investigators want to know if that is shorthand for "shall be the conquerer".
JonBenet was found strangled with a garrotte, her skull fractured |
Mr Karr was arrested at an apartment in Bangkok on Wednesday.
A US arrest warrant charges him with murder, kidnapping and sexual assault of a child.
When asked if he killed JonBenet, he told reporters: "No, I did not. It was an accident."
Mr Karr's ex-wife Lara has since insisted he was with her in Alabama for the entire Christmas period of 1996, when JonBenet died.
JonBenet's family have fought for years to clear their names of persistent accusations of involvement in the death of their daughter.
Her mother, Patsy - who died of cancer this year - had called police on 26 December 1996 to say JonBenet was missing and that there was a ransom note demanding $118,000 (£62,000).
After an initial police search of the home, officers asked her father, John Ramsey, to look again and he found JonBenet's body in the basement.

I'm disgusted with people like this man, I know here is some presumption of innocence. But in my country holds, that if somebody is charged for somenthing, he did something. It is a question how this could happend, but I can't see way how to forbid this. I think that we can't stop every maniac in this world, but we have to do as possible to try prevent cases like this. It starts by parents, who have to care their children, don't leave them alone! Better prevent than cure.
Don't leave Israel
I know I will not write what wasn't written. But more places where to found this better.
Everybody know about Israely conflict toLebanon. But many people don't see that Israel is our ally in the sea of enemies. But not only Israely enemies, enemies of our life style, our religions, and our freedom. Enemies who want to take us down.
Cease is not way out, because they won't stop. If we will not defendour values, we might one day wake up with heads pointing to Mecca.
I have to say this: Don't leave Israel in this times!
After elections
Czech elections
Situation after Czech elections don't seem to be solveable. Our PM, is blocking any way to solve after-election stalemate. But on other hand, I found that the chairman of Civic Democrats is empty vessel. So I really don't know where to is our Republic headed. But I have to note that the only winner of elections is president Klaus, former chairman of the Civic Democrats...

Sky News: Shuttle Cleared For Return To Earth: "Shuttle Cleared To Return
Updated: 19:06, Sunday July 16, 2006
The crew of the shuttle Discovery have been given the go-ahead to try to land at Kennedy Space Centre in Florida on Monday.
The news came after Mission Control said that inspections of the vessel's protective heat shield showed no signs of damage.
NASA engineers looked at images from an inspection of the shuttle's wings and nose cap by the crew using a 50ft robotic arm.
It was to make sure there was not a repeat of the 2003 Columbia disaster, when seven astronauts were killed on re-entry because of a damaged shuttle wing.
Fuel tank insulation foam flew off during Discovery's take-off, but NASA said they were too small and too late in the launch to be dangerous.
Discovery will attempt to land at 09:14 or 10:50 local time (14:14 or 15:50 UK time), completing a successful 13-day mission.
Its commander Steve Lindsey praised the shuttle, saying: 'We got a clean bill of health today to enter after inspecting for micrometeorite damage. So I think the vehicle has done great.'
The craft took supplies and an extra crew member to the international space station and allowed spacewalkers to repair a vital rail car on the station.
Mission Control also told Discovery that a leaking unit that powers hydraulic systems used for steering and braking should not pose a problem during landing.
The landing is planned for Florida but NASA said it would consider Edwards Air Force Base in California as a back-up if there are weather problems.
The shuttle must land by Wednesday.

Sky News: Mid East: Hezbollah 'Open War' Threat
We Are Going To War: "Hezbollah's leader has declared his militant group was ready for 'open war' with Israel after multiple air strikes on Lebanon.
Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah also warned an Israeli warship that had been firing missiles into southern Beirut would be destroyed.
The naval vessel has since been damaged in a rocket attack.
His audio-taped threat was aired less than an hour after Israeli missiles struck Hezbollah headquarters and his house in southern Beirut.
Elsewhere, Beirut's airport was attacked for a third time, while Southern Lebanese suburbs and the guerrilla's radio station have also been blasted by warplanes.

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has approved more attacks on Lebanon and his security chiefs said the Israeli army would begin hitting more targets during the night.
Hezbollah fighters have fired more than 70 rockets at towns in northern Israel.
Meanwhile, Palestinian gunmen blew up a portion of the Gaza-Egypt border wall.
The attacks follow a night of Israeli air raids on Thursday, which saw at least three people killed and 55 injured in Beirut.
The Lebanese Army responded by firing anti-aircraft rounds and missiles across the border at Israel.

Israel targeted militants in Rafah in the latest air strikes
Israeli aircraft have launched a fresh wave of air strikes on Gaza, intensifying pressure on Palestinian militants to free a captured soldier.
The Palestinian interior ministry was hit, while a militant was reported killed in an air strike - the first fatality since the offensive began.
Meanwhile the UN has warned of an imminent humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
On Thursday Israel said it was postponing sending troops into northern Gaza to give diplomacy a chance.
In an interview with the Egyptian newspaper al-Ahram, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak said the Palestinian militant group Hamas had agreed to the conditional release of Cpl Gilad Shalit, who was captured on Sunday.
'Up to now, the Israeli side does not accept,' Mr Mubarak is quoted as saying, without giving details of the Palestinian conditions.
Gaza Strip in detail
But there has been no public Israeli response. The Israeli government has demanded Cpl Shalit's unconditional release, and our Jerusalem correspondent Nick Thorpe says the Israeli government seems unlikely to greet Mr Mubarak's comments with great enthusiasm.
Egyptian officials have been trying to negotiate Cpl Shalit's release since the beginning of the crisis.
'All-out war'
In the latest round of air strikes, Israeli warplanes fired missiles into the unoccupied Palestinian interior ministry in Gaza City shortly after midnight on Friday, setting the building ablaze.

BBC NEWS | Americas | US fears home-grown terror threat
BBC NEWS | Americas | US fears home-grown terror threat: "The US Attorney-General, Alberto Gonzales has warned that home-grown terrorists could pose as much danger to the US as foreign al-Qaeda operatives.
Seven men have been charged with plotting to blow up the Sears Towers in Chicago, and attack FBI offices.
The men, five from the US and two from Haiti, hoped to wage a 'full ground war' against the US, according to the charges brought against them.
Officials said the men were foiled at an early stage and posed no danger.
Mr Gonzales said the group of 'home-grown terrorists' were inspired by 'a violent jihadist message'.
'They were persons who for whatever reason came to view their home country as the enemy,' he told reporters.
'Dangerous'
According to charges brought against the men, the group of men aged 22 to 32 had sworn allegiance to al-Qaeda, but had no contacts with it.
They have been charged with conspiring to blow up both the Sears Tower and the FBI building in North Miami Beach.
